Showers

I have to admit...Bridal showers are a really strange phenomenon to me. I've got one this weekend in my hometown. I'm actually very nervous about it.

You go to all these stores and make a virtual "wish list" of everything you want (or everything the bride wants). Someone tells you they want to throw you a shower, you say thank you, you send them a guest list, they send the invites and let everyone know where to buy your stuff, they plan the shower, you show up and everyone brings you a gift.

It's like, "Please come to my party that someone else is throwing for me, and bring me a gift from this list of things I picked out. Thanks." It just seems so weird to me.

And can you act surprised when you receive a gift? No, because you picked it out. I'm having a hard time with this. I have a hard time receiving gifts from anyone, really. I get a little freaked out.

I will get to see and spend time with people I've not seen in a while. It will be nice. And I am very thankful.
