The Clementine

...is a seedless mandarin. I've been thinking, these Clementines that I bring to work taste funny...or, each of them tastes different. But maybe what I bought was not, in fact, a Clementine? That is possible. I get a little discouraged because 'round these parts you can only buy a bag full of 15 or so Clementines. But I can only eat so many before they start to ruin. So while at Whole Foods the other day, I noticed they were selling them in singles. I think what I picked up was something else. They're good, but not like those bags full of Clementines. Clementines are sweeter, these are unpredictable.

But, either way, both of these tiny oranges are so easy to peel. And seedless. I am thankful for them.

Muffin Man

Oh, do you know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man?
Oh, do you know the muffin man,
That lives on Drury lane?
Oh, yes, I know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man.
Oh, yes, I know the muffin man,
Who lives on Drury Lane.

There. Maybe that'll be in YOUR head all day long. Misery loves company.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! The emails are already flying around our office about where to go to Happy Hour. For some reason, I'm just not a joiner here at the Vision. I'm going to the gym with my mister tonight. My power yoga class is tonight, and she's the best instructor I've ever had. At the end of class, we get aromatherapy-scented towels laid on our faces as we're relaxing. But boy, am I usually sore the next day.

Last night at Youth Group, we played another game besides CatchPhrase. Kids were a little upset, but once we got into it, it was fun. Have you ever played "Sardines?" Some call the game by a different name, but basically you turn all the lights out and one person is "it". That person hides, then everyone comes and looks for him or her. When you find the person, you join him/her in his/her hiding place. Quietly, everyone joins (like a can of sardines) until the last person joins. That last person is "it" the next time.

I realized last night:
1. I really am afraid of the dark.
2. I can't see shit in the dark.
3. I don't like to be close to other people, like really close, especially if I don't know what body part is that close to me.
4. I miss being a kid.

We really have to find a house. Pretty soon. I'm devoting spare time in my weekend to researching neighborhoods, etc. While it's exciting, it's very stressful.

Back to work.

Weekend Update

Is there anything better than hard boiled eggs in a salad? I don't think so.

I had a great weekend. I stayed home from work on Friday. Well, I worked from home. Got a lot done -- both for work and for the weekend. Jack got groomed. Jack got butchered. Friday night, we did nothing, really. We went out for Pei Wei, and rented "Eulogy", which turned out to be a pretty good movie. Todd fell asleep but I actually stayed up for it. That's pretty phenomenal. Well, I'd had a nap earlier.

Saturday, Todd played in a hockey game and I cleaned my apartment and paid bills. I also treated myself to a much needed mani/pedi. (The place where I go for this -- they're stepping it up a notch -- they're serving wine while you have your pedicure done, and they're giving your legs a salt scrub, a mask, and a long massage, just for the regular thang. Heaven on earth, my friends.) My family came into town and my friends threw an engagement party for us. It was a blast -- very strange to see so many worlds collide, though. Work, family, church, old friends, new friends. It's also very difficult to talk to everyone at your own party. A little stressful. But it was a great time. I'm very thankful that I have such wonderful friends and family. I'm lucky to have Todd, I'm lucky to have his family as well. It's just all good. Good, good, good, good good.

Sunday, we all went to church. Then to lunch. Then I took a fat nap. My cousin woke me up and encouraged me to get off the couch and bring Jack over for a walk before we went rollerblading.
1. I am abusing Jack by having him in that small apartment. I need out SOON.
2. Jack loves to take big dog walks and he never gets tired.
3. Jack thinks mommy on rollerblades is the strangest thing he's ever seen. Well, besides gift bags. He thinks gift bags are insane and scary.
4. Jack slept like a rock last night. He was pooped. And now when he hears my keys jingling, he thinks he's going to their house for a little puppy par-tay.

Anyway, I helped my cousin with some work, braided her daughter's hair, and was on my way home. Jack and I passed out and slept in this morning.

Life is beautiful.
Now, we need to find a house. Quick-style.
